What have we been learning this week? WC 5th March 2018
We have been developing our skills relating to story writing this week. We have been focusing on the Enormous Turnip. We used role-play and music to re-tell the story. This was excellent and really helped us when it came to our sentence writing. During phonics, Reception have been working on recapping the phase 3 sounds, whilst Year 1 have been working on split diagraphs. For example - a_e in cake and i_e in kite.
The Year 1 children have also been working on words containing the -ve sound at the end of a word. For example - have, gave, wave, etc.
In Mathematics this week, Reception have been learning to halve numbers and shapes, whilst Year 1 have been focusing on quarters. This was a tricky concept for the Year 1 pupils. We will continue recapping this next week.
During our creative sessions we have been learning about the growth of plants. We have loved becoming scientists.
We have been using our printing skills to help us to create Mother's Day cards.
