What have we been learning this week? WC 12/3/18

This week, we have started our new English unit and the children seem to be enjoying the story, 'The secrets of Platform 13' very much! Together, we read the blurb and part of chapter one and the children made  some wonderful predictions! We also spent a lesson exploring the first part of the story through art, making a collage to represent what they know so far.
In maths, we have continued to develop our fraction knowledge. We have been using a numberline to count in fractions and been exploring fractions bigger than one. The children have enjoyed using images to help them with this.
We have had so much fun in dance this week!! We are learning the dance, 'Rock around the clock' and it certainly isn't an easy one! This dance requires the children to work with a partner and work at an extremely quick pace- certainly a great workout!
Science week has been wonderful, the children invented their own creature and wrote a description about its features using scientific vocabualry. We also enjoyed learning all about Steven Hawking and why he was such an inspirational role model who will be greatly missed.
I hope everybody has a wonderful weekend and I hope the sun shines!
